The US Tennis Open, officially the US Open Tennis Championships, is an international tennis tournament held every year in the United States. It is the fourth and final major event in the yearly Grand Slam of tennis (the other tournaments are the Australian Open, the French Open, and the Wimbledon Championships).
The US Open is held every year in late August and early September over a two-week period. Since 1978, the US Open has been held on the acrylic hard courts of the US Tennis Association (USTA) National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, Queens, New York (renamed the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in 2006). The U.S. Open is divided into five categories: men's singles and doubles, women's singles and doubles, mixed doubles, and mixed doubles.
